Muliebrity: The State of Being Feminine

“Muliebrity鈥� is coordinate term to 鈥渧irility,鈥� referring to qualities of femininity. 99福利视频 staff, faculty, and students were invited to explore how they connect with and empower the feminine aspects of the self,听 community, or greater collective via artistic processes. The Wild Heart Gallery proudly presented a series of artist statements from this exhibition, which ran from November, 2016 through January 2017.

Title: Year of the Monkey

I created this piece over a year ago听but听now that we are in the听Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Monkey it seems fitting to title my previously untitled drawing, Year of the Monkey. 听What’s more celebratory for me is that I am a Monkey, rather,听I was born in 1980, which was also the Year of the Monkey. 听While I am no expert on the Chinese听Zodiac, I will say that I relate to and aspire to cultivate Monkey’s听playful, energetic,听curious and collectivist nature. 听I also feel challenged as I persevere with the听work of training aspects of my monkey mind which has been accustomed to听swinging from the trees.听听

While听I have been an artist since I was a child, over the last three years my work has tremendously matured because of my intense interest in the healing arts听and how I can create my own physical, emotional and spiritual healing through art-making and story telling. 听Both the baby and the mommy monkey are aspects of me and my exploration of the concepts of听re-parenting myself, attachment, transcendence of traumatic relationships, and the cessation of addictive听patterns which cause me to听suffer. 听

This piece is also an听expression of听gratitude.听听I feel so grateful for the Multiversal听intelligent, cooperative听design which听inter-connects all beings听and听tethers us听to the听Creator and听to Mother Earth. 听I also celebrate my听own homo听sapien mother, as our experience听has been my most satisfying听familial relationship. 听We are so blessed because听our relationship听continues to heal and听expand in loving, exciting directions.听

Finally, this piece, along with many others in my growing body of work, represent an effort to heal my relationship with food and the hooks of听Lifelong听eating disorders.听 Immersing myself in the converging healing听narratives which culminate听and channel听through expressive art-making and identity restoration, in conjunction with听a high raw听vegan fruitarian Lifestyle, empowering听movement, and spiritual practices, serve as an integrative healing process which听facilitates the听embodiment of my own personal听renaissance, springtime and听rebirth. 听 Year of the Monkey is an intentionally rendered space created with the goal of increasing my own capacity for and ability to co-create听joy,听safety,听intimacy, softness, forgiveness,听love, and lot’s of divine听sweetness and freshness in relationship with myself听and my community. 听
