However, she has maintained a career in higher education over 20 years. 聽Previously, Dr. Seaman was a core faculty member in the Counseling and Art Therapy (CAT) department at Ursuline College from 2011-2026, with a brief appointment as Assistant Professor at Molloy College in New York in 2015 to help develop their new mental health counseling program. Dr. Seaman鈥檚 research interests include sibling relationships, human development and social influences on aging, multicultural and feminist counseling issues, social justice and interrogation of patriarchy, as well as the impact of awareness building through yoga, meditation, and other creative healing strategies. Dr. Seaman is a licensed independent clinical counselor and maintains a private practice where she works counseling children, adolescents, and their families by supporting their self-awareness and by promoting interdependent and harmonious connections in their lives. Her clinical interests include client-centered therapeutic practices (such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, family systems therapy, existential therapy, music and creative healing methods), yoga therapy, mindfulness training, and career development. Moreover, Dr. Seaman is a registered yoga teacher and works to guide individuals to self-discovery through instruction in movement, breath, and mindfulness. She strengthens others with knowledge and self-awareness of connections between body, mind, and spirit. She has been trained in principles of Jivamukti and Anusara yoga methods. Her teaching philosophy is that students transform into qualified and competent professionals through self-knowing and interpersonal awareness. In her approach, the content of what is being presented in a course and the process in which learning is facilitated are both vital. Therefore, her goal is to integrate individual and interactive methods to foster student self-awareness and transformation, as well as knowledge and competence to apply their skills outside the classroom.
